Slower Android Smart phone..Solutions Here !

Hi Guys,

How are you doing ? Today, I am going to write about slower smartphone, battery draining apps and how you can make your beloved smartphone fast (Android).

Well, to begin, lots of time, we buy awesome hardware backed mobile. Big RAM size, big ROM, octa core processor, high clock speed etc etc. When you first buy the mobile, you install as much as applications you want. For first few days, the phone performs really well. Its snappy & you feel happy.  Then, you do system upgrades. After those happy days, suddenly notice, there are lags, mobile takes time to open the apps, there is random heating of mobile, battery draining at faster pace and low screen on time. Now, then people start blaming the OEM of the mobile. May be the first thing what we have in our mind is that "Its chinese, what can i expect from it? Throw it out or exchange the mobile to buy a new one" . Thats it. The same cycle of process reboots. You buy a new mobile. Good hardware. Good software. But again the same problem starts after few months. If this is happening to you, read the below tricks to make your mobile better again.

This is the very first thing you need to do.

GET RID OF ALL CLEANER APPS OR DISABLE THOSE:

I get it. We are all concerned about RAM. This comes from our approach of using a MS Windows based Laptop. Cleaning RAM. Cleaning Junk file etc etc. Well, give that up. Android is too different. You need not to clean the RAM every time. Especially by a cleaner app like C cleaner,  clean master etc. These are rather memory consuming apps and slower the app boots.

GET RID OF ANTI VIRUS:

Well, its may be a good term on paper. But, it slowers the mobile. Frankly, in my life time use of mobile, if you have a good vendor like Motorola, or Xiaomi, you get security patches once in 3 to 6 months. The android security patches are enough to take care the malware. You need not to install those. Still, if you feel unsafe, you can go for AVG or recently launched Jio AV. Those consumes less memory.

DECREASE THE ANIMATION SPEED:

To make mobile more snappy, this is a very useful step. It lies inside your developer options. Animations are there to make the UI more beautiful. but you do not know, individual OEM tweaks it to give a better look to the software. In return, laggy mobile. The apps take time to boot up. The best animation speed is to NOT TO HAVE ANY ANIMATION SPEED. but, some apps may not work well. So my suggestion to keep it at 0.5X. Check it like this.

Go to Settings-> Developer options-> Find Window Animation Scale, Transition Animation Scale,Animator Duration scale..make all these three to less than current set. If its 0.5X, you can try other tricks. If its more than that, decrease to 0.5X. You will notice significant improvement.

If you do not find developer options. Then you need to go to Settings- About Phone-> Click on Build no (5 times) till you see  "You are now a developer" Go back and check in settings. You will have a developer options.

CLEAN THE CACHE:

Many people do not clean the cache. Now this is basic but do not know how to do it. Go to Settings--> Storage--> Tap on Cache. It will prompt Clean the cache. Press yes. This should be done once before you go to sleep. Make it a habit.

CLOSE BACKGROUND PROCESS (for some mobiles):

Now people want 100 apps for different activities. Thats not bad. Thats good. But ask yourself, "do I use all these apps at a time?" I know its NO. but, what your mobile does is to run most of the apps in background. They boot at start up. Now, those keep on sending notifications too. Those need to be disabled. All OEMs do not permit disabling background refresh. Some may permit after rooting which voids warranty. If your Software permits you, then go to settings--> App management/Apps/App Ops-->Running--> Click on app--> Check option for Disable  Run in Background. In iOS, its by default present. Just search in Settings, background refresh. Disable it.

If rooting is required, you may do that if your mobile is above 1 year and not in warranty. Install the app "Greenify" after being rooted. Disable the apps in background which you dont require frequently.

DISABLE APPS WHICH YOU DO NOT NEED:

Now,if you are in samsung or any other vendor, they install pre-loaded apps which you neither can uninstall it or you use them actually. It consumes internal storage. They run in background. They slower your mobile. These are called bloatwares. Disable those. For example, you may have seen there are 10+ apps of google alone. I bet you do not use those. The fact is google apps package is of different size. It has micro level, mini level, full level etc. Most of the vendors just install Full level in their stock OS as a marketing kick. This means many useless apps of google are pre-installed. You can not uninstall those. But, you can disable. Try google movies, google play news etc.

TURN YOUR GPS OFF:

Well, its more battery centric. but also, it slowers your mobile. There are some background apps, as soon as, you turn on the GPS, they start awakening the mobile and keep on scanning for available updates.

FORCE STOP HEAVIER APPS:

Though this is not recommended every time. Sometimes, it is useful. Just go to settings--> App management-->Memory usage/Running apps--> Check for any useless apps running in background. Just press on the app. press force stop. Press OK if you have been notified about misbehavior of app.

INSTALL GOOD QUALITY MEMORY CARD:

Do you know the external card has different types? Do not buy a cheap one because its from a reputed brand. Buy a good one even if its not reputed. Here, good means read and write speed. More the read and write speed, better is the mobile performance. The card must be class 10 type at least. Do not install class 4 or class 6 memory card in current android devices. It will slower your mobile. When you are installing apps, try to install it in internal storage. That makes the apps boot faster and makes your mobile snappy.

Some of the above processes can help you increase the battery life also. but, try the above and post comments if it is helpful. Soon, I will write on how to increase the battery life of a smartphone.

Till then, keep smiling and be kind.

Thank you.
Ashis
