10 Features of Smartphones which are over-hyped

Hello ! Welcome back. You know every smartphone has Unique Selling Point. But, with time, every mobile has come up with many features. Are those all useful? Definitely no. So why is so hype? May be for marketing or may be OEMs just misunderstand users' need. Lets find out what are the most over-hyped features in a smartphone. 

1. The "Notch"

Apple X comes with a notch and all android phones have started copying it. In  my opinion, normal 18:9 or bezzle less panels like Mi Mix 2 are much better looking. The notch has no usability and looks ugly when someone watches a video or plays a game.

2. Face Unlock

Its not to be mistaken as FaceID or IRIS scanner. FaceID of Apple is hardware based so as IRIS scanner of Samsung and both are pretty secured. But, the android devices which simply has face unlock like Oneplus 5T based on front camera is totally useless. Its not secured at all. Why it exists even if its not safe or secure?

3. Google Assistant/Siri

I find the assistant apps are of no use. Seldom, people use it. The notification of the google app does all the jobs for you. In fact google cards used to be very good. sadly, not all OEMs implement it. 

4. Custom UI

When google has created its android software, its clean and not very feature rich. That means no bloatware. This makes mobile pretty snappy. but custom UI like TouchWiz, Funtouch OS etc are very thick and feature rich. But, fact is all features you can get by apps. Its always better to have clean android. 

5. Blood pressure and Heart rate sensor:

Samsung does not provide light sensor to its budget segment. but, they provide useless sensor which hardly anyone use in their flagship phones. Seriously, who checks his heart rate in a mobile?

6. Super Slo-mo videos:

Slo-mo videos are okay. but super slo-mo? Seriously? How about putting a 41MP sensor like Lumia 1020. At least it would be of real usage. Slo-mo videos of 0.2 Sec is just gimmick. 

7. Edge Screen:

Edge screen of samsung is normally loaded with features which none uses. Its in fact for only styling. There is nothing to be vocal about it, Samsung !

8. 4K recording:

This feature will be advertised by every mobile. But, what you will get out of it? I mean lets be real we never watch even a 720p video in youtube. The 4K recording consumes too much power and heats up mobile. So, people normally prefer 1080p. 

9. Animoji/AR Moji what not ? 

No words for this particular feature. It looks cool. But day to day use is nowhere nearby. This feature is as useful as the "Notch".

10. Wireless charging:

How its wireless when the pad itself has wire? Thats just no way any good for users. The usability is pretty much NIL.
