Battle of mid-range champions (Redmi Note 5 pro Vs Nokia 6.1 Vs Asus ZF M1 Vs Moto G6 Plus)
Hello everyone,
The year of 2018 has started with many phones launching in past 2 months. Many more are going to be launched in next 2 to 3 weeks. When I keep track of them, the most popular segment indeed is from Rs 10000 to Rs 20000. The segment is mainly dominated by Xiaomi and Motorola. But, Asus and Nokia have started tightening their belts. They have also launched some interesting phones especially Asus launching Zenfone Max pro M1. Lets have an overall comparison of the specs and I will share my recommendation which one you should go for.
Display & Build:
There is no question that build of Nokia is always superior. Thanks to its full Aluminium 6000 series body. It looks amazing to eyes. But, when it comes to display, there is a catch. If we compare display, all have Full HD display. But here except Nokia, all offers a modern aspect ratio of 18:9. However, Nokia has an advantage of high contrast and higher Nits value. meaning the sun visibility is excellent. Nokia 6.1 is for those, who do not want a tall display. Rather, they like classic looks. I will call it as a tie and will leave it for your personal preference.
Hardware:
When Motorola and Nokia are powered by Snapdragon 630, Asus and Xiaomi have powered their mobiles with 636. So, definitely, 636 will be powerful. However, it does not mean 630 is a bad processor. Its quite capable too and can perform daily tasks with ease. When it comes to battery efficiency, of course 630 will be better. So, personally, if you are performance lover, you should choose, Asus or Redmi.
Software:
Lets make it simple. Here, Nokia just trumps all others because of its fluid Android one. Software support is guaranteed for 3 years in Nokia with 2 upgrades. Second will be the Asus and Moto. The least preferred will be Redmi device powered by MIUI that too Nougat. MIUI is heavy and Xiaomi is slow in providing core android update.
Battery:
Asus and Redmi have big batteries and the battery back up is quite good for both of them. But they lack quick charging. Nokia and Moto G6 plus have smaller battery but have support for quick charging. So, I consider its a tie as anyone of these mobiles will last at least for 1 day. But, if you are traveler, definitely, Asus should be preferred.
Camera:
The camera performance of Moto G6 plus is yet to be known. But on paper, it looks promising. Among the rest 3, the winner is Redmi Note 5 pro because of its excellent low light photos. The front cameras of Nokia and RN5 pro are quite good and Asus is a sure miss in camera department. Please note that RN5 pro offers only Full HD recording unlike other 3 who support 4k recording at 30 FPS. Anyway, if camera is your priority, definitely, RN5 pro should be first choice.
Additional features :
Nokia 6.1 offers type C port so as Moto G6 plus. Other 2 have micro USB port. Definitely, USB type C is future. Redmi Note 5 pro has IR blaster when Nokia has NFC. So, this department is quite mixed bag.
Price:
Moto G6 plus is the costliest followed by Nokia. Cheapest is Asus. Nokia and Moto have brand value and the price tag reflects that. However, Nokia is available everywhere and its meant for offline selling only. Getting Asus and Redmi phones are really tough. So, if you need an instant phone, definitely, Nokia should be the choice. But, if we consider all are available, what should be the verdict? Well, read below.
Verdict:
If build, durability, Security and stock android one matter to you, buy Nokia 6.1
If Stock android, brand and dual camera matter to you, buy Moto G6 plus.
If Camera, 18:9 display and performance matter to you buy Redmi Note 5 pro.
If performance, stock android, Battery and you want most value out of your pocket, choose Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1.
If I were to choose any one of the 4, personally I will choose Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 because of 18:9 display, dual camera, mammoth battery and most importantly near stock interface.
So, thats it folks.
